A BEC regulates the voltage of your battery down to a manageable voltage that a servo can handle. I run 11.1v 3s lipos and I program my BEC’s to 7.4v or 6v for the servos. Here is how I wire my BEC's. I run Hitec steering servos @ 7.4v and I don't think running 7.4v through the receiver like some folks is good idea, I am just paranoid.
